Turkey Cheese Roll-Ups

Five minutes, zero cooking, and kids eat every bite. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese on the cheese before rolling so the whole thing holds together and doesn't unravel in the lunchbox.

Turkey Cheese Roll-Ups
Make ahead: Roll and wrap tightly in plastic wrap the night before. Slice in the morning. Holds well for 24 hours.

How to make it

  1. Lay a slice of cheese flat on a slice of deli turkey.

  2. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese across the surface.

  3. Roll tightly from one end and press to seal.

  4. Slice into 1-inch rounds or leave whole.

  5. Pack in a container with a small ice pack.

Buy Boar's Head turkey from the deli counter (ask for it sliced thin), Trader Joe's sliced provolone or cheddar, and whipped cream cheese for easy spreading. These pack well flat in a small container, and the cream cheese layer keeps them from drying out.

Swap ideas: use sliced ham instead of turkey; sub Laughing Cow spreadable wedges for the cream cheese; tuck a thin strip of roasted red pepper inside for extra flavor with no extra work.
