Reach for this when
they're jumping on cushions and asking to fly — channel it before the couch becomes the launchpad unsupervised.
What you need
- Rocket box (pointed top, three fin flaps taped on)
- Kitchen timer or phone countdown
- Headphones or pot lid as "mission control headset"

How to play
- You at "mission control" (across the room): read checklist — "Helmet?" (they pat head). "Seatbelt?" (they hug themselves). They: Mime the checklist responses.
- You: Countdown from ten together — whisper at 3, 2, 1, then SHOUT blastoff. They: Whisper with you, then shout.
- You: They stomp out of the box and run to the couch landing zone. You narrate: "Smooth landing on the moon." They: Run, leap, land — soft pile only.
- You: One relaunch only — second countdown uses a song chorus length, not another ten. Box goes to recycling after soggy week. They: Get the closure ritual; recycling becomes the goodbye.
If it flops
Scared of the countdown? Skip numbers — "Ready… set… go" and a gentle lift of their shoulders. Same rocket, softer launch.
