Bath time extension kit guide

Bath play · 15–20 minutes

Pour and measure

Nested measuring cups in the tub — pour from big to small, then small to big. You demonstrate once; they repeat until the water cools.

Reach for this when

they want to stay in the tub past hair-wash time or fight getting out.

What you need

  • Mesh bag on tub wall (cups inside)
  • 2–3 plastic measuring cups
  • Optional small pitcher, half full

How to play

  1. You: Pull the measuring cups from the mesh bag — leave letters and baster inside for now. They: Watch where the cups live on the tub wall.
  2. You: Fill the largest cup from the faucet stream or a half-full pitcher; pour slowly into the next size down. They: Hold the empty cup or ask for help — either is fine.
  3. You: Hand them the empty cup. Say "your turn" — no lecture on volume. They: Copy your pour or invent their own rhythm.
  4. You: When they pour over the side, redirect to the bowl on the ledge — not a scold. End with "two more pours" before drain. They: Pour, wipe, repeat.

If it flops

All splash, no pour? Stick one foam letter on the tile above the cups — "fill to the letter" gives a visual line without new toys.
